Williamstown Fire Department

Being there from the moment of the accident until she was airlifted out of the area to Lexington; I really have to commend the Williamstown Fire Department for their amazing performance.  Not only did they get onto the scene in a very fast amount of time, they made the right call to airlift her out to a trauma center, and had that airlift there in minutes.  From the time of the accident until they responded and got her airlifted away was maybe 20 to 25 minutes.  Considering the rural location of the farm this is in my humble opinion nothing short of absolutely amazing.

If anyone would like to thank them, you can contact them at:

Chief Whalen of the WFD was actually the first responder to the accident and did an outstanding job.  I'm really grateful that they were so professional and quick when it was needed.

  2. As the owners of the farm where the tragic accidient happened, we called Cheif Whalen the very next day to thank him and commnend his department for the quick response and making all the right decisions.

In moments of panic, they helped to calm everyone down, and take over everything.

We would like to give special heartfelt thanks to Sam for bringing Caity back. She actually passed away in the driveway at one point, and Sam had the common sense to tilt her head and clear her airway. Within seconds, color came back to her lips and her face. Had it not been for his quick thinking, Lord only knows what would have happened that day. Greg was on the phone guiding the ambulance to the farm, and I was attempting to keep Caity covered up because she was so cold. We were also told not to let her move. She was wanting to turn over because she was sick to her stomach, myself, Melanie, and Greg were doing out very best to keep her in position. We were aware it was tragic, but never to the extent it turned out to be.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Caity and her family everyday. As the earlier post stated, it was minute by minute, and now it is day by day provides us with nothing but a bright and healthy recovery for Caity.

Greg has asked himself fifty or more times what he could have possibly done to prevent the horse from falling backward and on top of Caity, he wondered why he could not have grabbed the halter but after four days of beating himself up he realized that everything happened so quickly there was no response that coud have helped at that point.

When Caity is aware of her surroundings, we look forward to visiting her, as we realize at this point and time we cannot visit with her.

We may have only spent 30 minutes with her before the horse ride, but her bubbly personality and her cheerful demeaner are definintely held close to our hearts.

Our prayers and thoughts our with her every minute of the days that go by, if we can help in anyway please do not hesitate to contact us.

  4. Leah,

When is a good time to see Caity? What are the time for visiting hours? Is today a bad day to see her?
