Status Report -- Monday, February 24

Tardy again on posting. The days seem to melt away. Leah and I saw Caitlin late last night after she'd recovered a bit from the tracheostomy. She seemed to be resting comfortably after a bath and the procedure, and it was wonderful once again to see her whole face.

The nurse reported an attempt to free her arms from restraint (mild though it is) was successful for a bit. Not surprisingly, however, restlessness and anxiety recurred, and she pulled the new trach tube from her throat. Ouch! Back to restraints for the time being.

All three of us were so happy to get brief smiles during our visits.

--------------------------
REMINDER: We are working hard to prevent any infections in ourselves, however mild.
The reason is that we won't be able to visit Caitlin if we get one. When she gets stronger she not only will want but will need visits, but we're trying to be careful right now -- not only for her, but for all those in the SICU who, like her, are fighting pneumonia and other infections

  4. I tryed to send my first ever blog the other night, it was unsuccesful due to computer malfunctions. Sorry we have not been able to come down, Joan has had several MS relapes and I do not like to leave her like that. We are waiting this week for first shipment of meds and nurse for MS to come and show us how to use the medication. At this point we are somewhat tied to the house waiting for all of this to occur. We do not have a time or a day at this point. We are aware of the severity of her condition and being familiar with such tramatic injuries, we feel she should be more stable before we actually visit with her. However, we will come down as soon as possible and hopefully the family will be in the waiting room and we will visit and offer our support. We think about Caity and your family every day. I am impressed with your strength and attitudes as I to embrace such attributes. Our thoughts and prayers are with you everyday, in our humble opinion we believe that she will recover. Thank you so much for the updates on blog, we read it everyday and look forward to ongoing progress Caity is achieving. Although we do not know her very well however, because of this accident we feel as though there will always be a connection between Caity, and us. If there is something that we can do, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sam's Uncle - Greg Roulette

  5. Margaret and Mike and Leah, I've remained in prayer for Caity since I heard this horrific news Tuesday night. I absolutely understand the need for protecting Caity from any other infection or virus, and so will respect that by not visiting at this time. I visualize holding her hand as I pray for her, and know that God has all of you wrapped in His loving care. Thank you for this blog, Margaret.

  7. In a roundabout way, I found out about Caitlin’s accident a few days ago. My heart goes out to all of you as you navigate through this ongoing trauma situation. My prayer is for Caitlin’s full recovery and peace as the three of you cope with the ups and downs of the winding path leading Caitlin back to the daughter and sister you know and love. With God’s blessing on you from Linda Frank-Gearon and family…

  8. Hello Mike and Kannensohn family, I asked our entire Executive/Finance Com. to pray for Caitlin today at the meeting. They were all so sorry to learn of her accident. The Cheveallier family including Mom in Baton Rouge is still praying hard as well and cheering loudly on the sidelines for Caitlins continued improvement. We love you all.
